Linda Charnes, LMFT – Counseling & Psychotherapy Practice
Working with me
With over 20 years of experience in psychotherapy practice, I have helped individuals, couples, and families achieve their goals for happy and healthy self-worth and strong relationships.
I am fully dedicated to the progress and welfare of each individual and couple I treat. I use an integrative, eclectic approach, combining psychotherapeutic methods from several theoretical models, including family systems therapy. In simple terms, this creates a powerful vehicle to address many forms of psychological and relational anxiety or difficulties.
Each person is unique and deserving of a careful, thoughtful, holistic approach to healing in my practice. The impact of both past and present are deeply considered in the treatment and addressed to create lasting change. We work collaboratively to facilitate your growth to become your best self and build loving relationships.
I attended graduate school at Drexel University, where I received my master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. I completed additional studies at The John Hevesi Institute in London, England. I have received further postgraduate education and training in a variety of contemporary therapies.
My goals as your therapist are to:
- Impart my many years of experience, intelligence, warmth, humor, and enthusiasm, offering you a challenging but gratifying experience of psychotherapy.
- Help you and your partner with issues of communication, conflict, and closeness, especially in working with couples experiencing the crisis of infidelity.
- Work with you to discover and use your strengths, talents, and assets.
- Give you the chance to finally establish and pursue what you genuinely want in your life.
Teletherapy during the pandemic
During this span of unprecedented stress in our lives, it may be the ideal time to open yourself to the benefits of psychotherapy. To provide the most protected environment possible, I am conducting all sessions virtually for now. Fortunately, in the right hands, teletherapy can be a powerful and effective method of engagement and connection for treatment.
I work with patients on a national level, and especially as New Yorkers, I find we can be resilient and flexible, able to embrace change in so many aspects of our daily lives. I will work with you to provide our individual therapy, couples therapy, premarital therapy, and blended family counseling via teletherapy.
